I was so excited to find freshly made Kombucha (a delicious cultured drink) for sale at the organic markets close by…& even BETTER STILL, a Kombucha baby OR ‘scaby‘.

The Kombucha scaby is actually a strange looking, living fungus! It even get’s referred to as a ‘mushroom’ fungus. Weird stuff huh. The lovely lady I bought it from has given me strict instructions on what this strange creature likes to eat. Lots of tea & sugar! Hmmm.

So here is my first batch Kombucha set to brew. It will be ready to drink in about 8 days 🙂 I think it looks kind of pretty in the afternoon light, for a FUNGUS!
